Calgary Teen Zone
Website and identity
The Project
The client was a non-profit after school program catering to youth in the north east of Calgary. The needed a very simple content manager to allow even the youth to add content. We also provided them with a logo, brochure and postcard to help with their marketing. We provided onsite training to show them how to use the system and what its strengths were.
The Geeky Details
We used Drupal as the CMS of choice because of it’s simplicity and power.

Yukon Government
Two sites under one umbrella
The Project
The main site, Invest Yukon, is built with a very dynamic content manager. It allows for different people to manage different sections of the site. The main navigation and header is a dynamic Flash animation.
The Business Directory was a custom build to store all the Yukon businesses and let users search through it.
The Geeky Details
Joomla was used for the content manager of the main site. It required serious modifications to handle the needs of the client. Javascript was used on some pages to parse the dynamic text into three equal columns (a feature in CSS 3.0).
The directory was a custom PHP build with a miniature content manager for the extra content and an approval system for new businesses. All the edit functionality was built right into the main interface.

PowerVision
Joomla site build
The Project
PowerVision software was looking for a site overhaul but also wanted better control over their content. They were concerned about scalability so we suggested an open-source solution. This would mean they could re-design the site by simply changing a single template instead of every page on their site. It also meant that they were free to use any designer or developer to do the next design.
The Geeky Details
We used Joomla because of the structure and design of the site. We also embedded a few Flash components that worked off xml data produced by Joomla. And finally we built a custom calculator entirely in Flash.

Photographix was a great little project we did for a local photographer. The design was supplied by DDW and apero took care of implementing the backend components to display his pictures.
